No Observed Effect Level NOEL : This is the greatest concentration or amount of a chemical found by experiment or observation that causes no detectable adverse alteration of morphology, functional capacity, growth, development, or life span of the target organism. The maximum dose or ambient concentration which an organism can tolerate over a specified period of time without showing any detectable adverse effect and above which adverse effects are apparent.
