Niacin Equivalent (NE)
Niacin Equivalent (NE) : A unit used in nutrition. An essential nutrient, niacin is supplied in normal diets from tryptophan, an amino acid found in many foods. However, only a small fraction of tryptophan is converted into niacin in the body. Accordingly, 1 niacin equivalent is equal to 1 milligram of actual niacin or to 60 milligrams of tryptophan
