M40/M42 Chemical/Biological Protective Mask : This is the standard protective mask. The mask consists of a silicone face piece with in-turned periphery, binocular eye lens system, and elastic head harness. Other features include front and side voice emitters, allowing for better communications, drink tube, clear, and tinted inserts and filter canister with NATO standard threads. The mask protects against chemical and biological agents, toxins, radioactive fallout particles, and battlefield contaminants. The M40/42 Series field protective masks will replace the M17 (general purpose), M25 (vehicle crewman), and M9 (heavy-duty) masks
