Ice 03 : (n.) (1-a) Water frozen in the solid state. Syn: Water Ice. Four Types: (1) Black Ice: A thin coating of ice (as from freezing mist) on a road or sidewalk; nearly invisible but very hazardous. (2) Frost, Hoar, Hoarfrost, Rime: Ice crystals forming a white deposit (especially on objects outside). (3) Hailstone: Small pellet of ice that falls during a hailstorm. (4) Icicle: Ice resembling a pendent spear, formed by the freezing of dripping water. Type of: Crystal: A solid formed by the solidification of a chemical and having a highly regular atomic structure. (1-b) The frozen part of a body of water. Five Types, See: Drift Ice; Icefall; Neve; Ice Pack, Pack Ice; Ice Shelf, Shelf Ice. Type of: Object, Physical Object: A tangible and visible entity; an entity that can cast a shadow. (1-c) A rink with a floor of ice for ice hockey or ice skating. Syn: Ice Rink, Ice-Skating Rink. (v.) (2-a) Cause to become ice or icy. Type of: Freeze: Cause to freeze. (2-b) Put ice on or put on ice. Type of: Chill, Cool, Cool Down: Make cool or cooler
