Hazardous substances and products delivered by PENTA are transported so that each type of substance is always transported in a container type allowed by the applicable transportation regulations. Regardless of the means of transportation, hazardous substances are classified and labeled as follows: Class 3: Flammable liquids; Class 4.1: Flammable solid substances, self-decomposing substances, and explosive desensitized solid substances; Class 4.2: Self-igniting solid substances; Class 4.3: Substances that in contact with water generate flammable gases; Class 5.1: Substances sustaining burning; Class 5.2: Organic peroxides; Class 6.1: Poisonous substances; Class 7: Radioactive substances; Class 8: Caustic substances; Class 9: Other hazardous substances. Hazardous substances can be packed and transported with substances of other classes only if the transportation regulations allow so, and provided that the transported substances cannot cause a dangerous reaction in the event of an accident. The regulations concerning road and railway transportation are mostly identical.The European Agreement on Transporting Dangerous Goods on Roads (ADR) defines the principles of transportation in Europe. PENTA transports hazardous substances to customers in the Czech Republic and in other European countries using its own vehicles approved for ADR. The railway transportation of hazardous substances is governed by the RID international regulations. PENTA transports in particular flammables in its own or rented rail tankers. One of the crucial parameters, which a UN sub-committee assigned to each hazardous substance or group of hazardous substances that have identical or similar properties, is the UN code. The classification used in this catalogue consists of the UN code, ADR/RID class, classification code, and packaging group. These important transportation details can be found in the specification sheets for each hazardous substance.
