Plane Wave 1
Plane Wave 1 : (1) Same as plane gravity wave; see gravity wave. A wave in which successive phase fronts are plane surfaces, parallel to each other and oriented perpendicularly to the direction in which the wave is traveling. Plane waves may be assumed to exist over areas sufficiently far removed from the energy source. (Also called: two-dimensional wave.) Any wave represented on a flat surface. See plane atmospheric wave
